Removing Trash Can? - 10-20-2005, 01:40 AM

I took this shot of our Grand Daughter playing soccer while we were in San Antonio and I was wondering can this trash can be taken out in Photoshop and still create a nice print?

If so how?

I have done some nice cloning and etc but nothing involving this large an area.

(I have the new Photoshop CS2)

For some reason the PBase link won't work Let me see if I can find it on my HD:

Got it

Just taking Hookem's edit one more step. I used the patch and clone tools to try to reduce the machine gun effect you get with cloning sometimes.

Hookem did a good job of removing the eyesore.

I think with a wee bit more work to remove some of the repeated brown grass patterns
that this is close to there. Something to consider in similar situations - do you have
any other shots close to the same location with perhaps a larger clean patch of grass
that you could use as a donor - healing/ cloning sources don't always have to be from
the same image and it can make life a lot easier.

I did a shot last week of a couple where the sky was mostly blown out as I didn't have a flash or many options - but after I took their portrait I took another shot properly exposing for the
sky at the same location/time and then dropped that in to the photo. If I'd had the right lighting gear I'd have done it differently but the end result worked well. Same thing here,
you've probably got other shots of that rough area that you could use to replace the grass/ barrier without having to do so much repeated cloning that gives the very tell-tale repeated pattern feel of both these versions.

Thx evil...it was done extremely quickly but can easily be done without any machine gun effect. I just threw it together in a matter of 3 minutes. If you want a better rendition suitable for printing let me know.

Many ways to do it. But in this case what I chose was to put a box around the trash can. Then magic erased the back ground. Took another box and copied a section of back ground. Because there wasn't a same size area to work with I had to paste multiple layers. I then did a quick clone job to smooth out the area. This literally took 3-5 minutes. If I took my time you would never know it was fixed.

I can't thank you guys enough for all your great help
I have been busy with my backlog today but I will get back to this and take a stab at it

I bought Flip Album Pro V6 and I'm trying to get some images I promised to friends/clients so to speak.
I tried demos for Proshow Gold and etc but I really like the professional look Flip Album offers and it looks very promising so far.The photographer that did our son's wedding in San Antonio uses it and it was cool. He gave him the masters for printing and etc.
