Contest photos - 06-14-2009, 09:05 PM

I am another new photographer! I am wanting to submit some photos in a contest and I do not know the proper way to submit the photos. Should I use a professional lab or the local CVS/Target? Do I submit just the photo or should it be in a frame? What else should I know about the proper way to submit the photos?

I would say you need to consult the rules governing the contest for submittal format.
I would also say that prints from CVS/Target arent going to cut it if you are serious.

I agree on the check the requirements of the contest. The store I was entering contests at wanted 8x10's mounted on 11x14 mount board, no frame, no mat. Others may want something different.

You might check a nearby camera shop (reputable, not Ritz/Wolf) on whether they offer prints or could recommend a good lab. Many shops will also having mounting board and adhesive suitable for mounting prints.

Read the rules of the contest. It is the only way to know what they REQUIRE.

Thank you so much! I did not think CVS/Target would be the right place to go for prints. I agree it is not the place to go if your serious about the profession.

In this day and age, many contests take digital files as entries. Finished prints if your photos are selected. Again, only the rulrs of the contest you are applying to apply.
