Photo Dry Mounting Services - 10-23-2005, 11:32 AM

Does anyone know of or recommend a photo dry mounting service in the north Houston area? I have several 11x16 inch prints that I would like to have dry mounted. In addition, does anyone have any experience (good/bad) with the spray on protective photo coatings.

Usually, I mat and frame my prints, however in this case I'm providing these prints to some nursing home patients for "free" and I would like to keep my mounting and shipping costs as low as possible. Any orther ideas would be appreciated.

Many thanks,

Dick

Hey Dick,

Most Framing shops do dry mounting. Look around in your neighborhood for a good frame shop, and stop in to ask. It's usually somewhere in the neighbor hood of $10-$15 to get a print done.

Hope that helps,

Joe

beleive it or not hobby lobby does dry mounting, but you need to make sure they understand that you want DRY mounting.

also they have a 50% off frames and mountings each month, usually towards the end of the month, which would be about now. But each store is different so call or check a hobby lobby near you.

Only problem is it takes them a few days

James

I have access to a dry mount press - if you want to purchase the supplies and come on over. I've never used it, though, and don't have a clue how to use it!

Many thanks to everyone. I found Michaels - Arts and Crafts store was able to help and I also found repositional, self-adhesive backed foam core board (~$5/for a 20"x30"x3/16" sheet) that worked well for this project.
