PS Question... - 10-25-2005, 08:14 AM

OK, I know that this is probably simple, but I figured I'd ask anyway... is there an easy way to create a brush for a signature? I have be just moving layers, but I am curious to know if I can create a brush that I can just use to add my sig to my photographs...any help is appreciated as I have been unsuccessful thus far...

Pretty simple, although I may not explain it well.......I need more coffee!

Create your 'signature' using shapes, text, your logo, or even your actual handwritten or scanned name.
Select all.
With your brush tool selected, click on the drop down for the different brushes. Then click on the little arrow to get the next menu. Click 'New Brush Preset'. It will ask you for a name. Once you name it and save it, you should be able to select your new sig brush from the list, and just stamp it on your image.

Hope that helps!

Well, I must be doing something wrong, because I still can't get it to work... I'll keep trying...

EDIT: I'm not sure what I am doing wrong...I did exactly what Dab said to, but it just keeps using a normal brush, not stamping the sig....ughhhhhhh...

Will,
I told you I needed more coffee!!
Lisa's tutorial is a good method too!

Let me try explaining again. This time with pictures. LOL

Ok, the first thing I do, is create a new blank canvas. I usually do these at pretty high res (300) so I can use on all types of images.

The next thing I do is type in my text, or pull in my logo or shapes, etc. (If you have multiple layers, I believe you have to merge them together before the next step will work properly.)

I usually will trim the canvas so only the writing/logo is showing, and not a whole bunch of extra space around it. Then throw out your background layer. Just drag it to the trash.

Then Select All. Click your brush tool.
From the top menu, click Edit > Define Brush Preset
Name it and click OK.

Then go back to your brush pallette and select it from the list (if it's not already selected).
You can choose any color you like, change the size to match the image you wish to put it on, and then simply stamp it.

Keep in mind, that because this is a brush, it will not be sharp and crisp. That's just the nature of a brush. If you want it sharp and crisp, you're better off using the method Lisa described.

Hold for pictures........
