Cap and gown included? - 08-30-2009, 08:25 AM

Those doing senior photos, do you include cap and gown shots? If so, where do you get the cap and gown?

I'm going to be shooting some for a couple of friends soon so thought I would ask. TIA

I include them if they want them. Some don't even want cap and gown shots, so I don't have to worry about them. I don't like the Cap and Gown shots. The caps look ridiculous IMO.
I bought a variety of colors on here from someone used. They're still in great shape and any snags or anything can be PP'd out.
As far as purchasing new ones...I dunno. Do a search on here. It's been mentioned before but I'm not sure where. Maybe in "business" or something.

We buy them. And even if the senior doesn't ask, we shoot them. I can't remember a session in the past 5 yeas that a MOM hasn't bought one or more of those shots, even when they said they didn't want them. Corny or not, they are what SENIOR photos are about and they sell.

I am not sure the company we use, but I do know they cost more than those "throw away" gowns they sell the kids. Ours a heavy and nice and photograph much better than those cheap ones.

The run about 200.00 plus per color and size, thou.

Jostens is a good source. The cheap ones are less than $30.00 I think, but they look really cheap in photos. The good ones are closer to $200.00 a set new, but they last for decades. I started out with only one color for my local high school and added to my colors as I started photographing seniors from other schools. I got several from studios going out of business and sold mine off the same way. If I were going to get just one color I would get black and then buy a bunch of tassles for different schools.
