motion? - 10-30-2005, 11:38 PM

my assignment in photo1 is now motion. It is pretty fun, but I am having problems coming up with enough ways to have all the requirements....the hardest ones are that I have to have at least 5 pictures with everything moving. I have a few where I was shooting out the car window but we dont have much interesting landscape here. I also need 5 where the subject is stable and the background is moving and at the moment I dont really have any ideas of what I could do for that...So please post any suggestions for either of these

I saw this on another site. Rig up a light object to attach to your camera (the one I saw was an arrow) via another rig off camera and you set up a slow shutter speed and take a panning shot. this way the arrow is in perfect focus and the back ground it moving.

I have seen one where some one got on a merry go round at a play ground and had their subject stand across from them and some else spinning them and the subject and the merry go round is still while the back ground is blurry from motion

You could have some stand and not move in a very crowded place. The subject will be frozen but the people in the back ground and foreground will have motion blur. I would suggest 5 or 6 sec shutter speed for this.

You could do panning shots of just about anything.. someone running, a car passing.. I Usually fail when I try it on purpose..lol. I got this one by accident http://www.flickr.com/photos/charlottesart/56857326/

The background is really boring and dull but the subject came out pretty clear. Good luck with your assignment!

OK, this may be a little hard to describe. How about putting your camera on a moving platform (pointing out the window of your car?) and using a long exposure - say 15 seconds. Drive slowly for 8 seconds then stay still for another 7 seconds in front of the subject. This might give a weird motion trail to the subject.
