Need advice: Heavy Metal Band Shoot - 09-07-2009, 05:36 PM

I could really use some advice. I got a shoot lined up today for a heavy metal band. Can anyone offer up ideas for places in Fort Worth... or any useful tips?

Thanks!
Mandy

If they will be playing, hearing protection.

As for location: Don't ask for advice. Find a location nobody has ever used or knows about. Be original. Bands have been done to death. You will have to work hard to create something fresh and original.

How did your shoot go?

Wayne is sometimes full of good points. With a band, I'd say the most important is to match the feeling of the location with the music. While "heavy metal" is sometimes synonymous with "trash," taking them to the dump probably wouldn't have been good. But an old warehouse, or a wall with rough and interesting textures, would've gotten my vote.

Sometimes???????????????????????????

Todd has a great point without being specific: Take something from the band's lyrics that can be translated into a location or scene.

Quote:
I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes
I see a line of cars and theyre all painted black
With flowers and my love both never to come back
I see people turn their heads and quickly look away
Like a new born baby it just happens evry day
I look inside myself and see my heart is black
I see my red door and it has been painted black
Maybe then Ill fade away and not have to face the facts
Its not easy facin up when your whole world is black

OK Wayne, you have pretty good points most of the time.

A heavy metal band would be the one great opportunity to use railroad tracks.

The shoot hasn't happened yet. I'm really excited about it.

I really want to do it at the slaughterhouse behind the stockyards. anyone know how to get in there? Do I need to call the city or something.. see if there's a fee?

off limits legally. dangerous as well. would be a good spot if you are adventurous and ready to get arrested.

There are some other warehouse spots off of Main Street that might be interesting.

I'd be looking for a scrap metal location.

I reckon if I have 1 good point a year I'm doing ok.

I wish I had thought of the train tracks.
