does this pose work? - 09-29-2009, 11:53 PM

I am looking at it and looking at it and looking at it and I am just getting nowhere. Is it an ok pose that just needs to be tweaked a little bit or is it a terrible pose and I'm just not seeing it. The model likes it, but I'm not sold on it. If you were to change something or several things, what would you change? How could I make it better? Thanks in advance.

I would spin the chair 45* so you could atleast see some of her body. To me it kind of odd looking straight on.

Yeah, kind of what I figured. I thought about rotating the chair some but the top she is wearing belongs to my girlfriend and she is a 38DD and the model is an A cup, maybe a B on a good day, so she was swimming in this outfit. Thanks for the confirmation. On a different note, how do her hands look?

Dan,
Don't know if this helps or hurts, but when I first saw the photo, I thought that the model was wearing an animal print skirt and resting her elbows on her knees! It took a second, then a third look to straighten out this "optical illusion" in my mind. This might not be the "look" that the model has in mind!

Can't base pose on clothing fit. Use some clips at the back or something and turn her 45 degrees to the camera. I try not to never shoot women facing straight to the camera.

No, but you have a nice shot of her on your blog. I like the red on her much better and the pose is very nice.

And GREAT Baby picts!

Yeah... Turn her to show more of her and her eyes appear to be soft... The eyes must be tack sharp and shine with a twinkle.

Cheers, joe

Avoid head-on "football shoulders"...turn the model at an angle to the camera. Check the eyes...everybody has one higher or lower than the other.

High eye toward the camera, as that is usually the "better" side. Don't get so involved in looking for the "good" side that you make your model uncomfortable, though. BE cool..."let's try it this way." Give clear directions.

Focus on the eyes...enough DOF to cover both.

Adjust your lights for more modeling (light and shadow) on the face.

A clothespin or three on the back of the outfit tightens things up nicely.

Hands back to wards the body. Otherwise, they look large and ungainly.

ALWAYS ask before touching the model, or adjusting the outfit.

In addition, when you turn the body that 45 degrees bring the face back across the body axis to give some life and animation to the view. When all the elements of the body are going the same direction, that's static. If there are no lines to keep the viewer's eyes looking into the picture they will follow a stright line right off the edge.

And I'm glad I was not alone in not recognizing that chair. I thought it was a zebra print skirt too.
