Focal Range - 02-16-2010, 03:38 PM

Can someone tell me how I might be able to calculate focal range such that I can focus on someone in the center of a shot and guarantee that everyone within 5-10 feet (in front and behind) of the focal point will be in focus.

Hopefully this questions makes sense.

Thanx in advance
Angel

plug your info into this calculator and you'll get your answer. Manipulate the numbers until you get the depth of focus you want. Then shoot by the numbers.

Remember that depth of field is 1/3 in front and 2/3 behind the point of critical focus. So if you are shooting four rows of people the focus point would be the second row back.

There's an app for that. PhotoBuddy if you are an iPhone user.
