Canon Raw file viewer with Explorer - 03-01-2005, 03:38 PM

Not sure if you know about this or not, but I was reminded of it by someone suggesting the person not shoot RAW unless they want to have to view them with PSCS.

If you're shooting Canon RAW (.CRW), you can go to http://www.suodenjoki.dk/us/producti..._thumbnail.htm
and get some information on two different methods to add CRW support to Windows Explorer.

I'm sure someone has done something similar for Nikon and others, but I shoot Canon so I didn't look further!

Here is a neat program that has a Free version and a Plus version(which I bought). I view all Raw files in Explorer just as if they were jpg's. The Plus version is $9.95, and well worth it to me. The free version would probably do me just fine, but I bought the Pro version mainly to support the author, because I was so appreciative for his program that allowed me to be able to see my Raw Thumbs in Explorer.

PS. He doesn't advertise his program anywhere. He just hopes for exposure via forum posts like mine. A forum post somewhere is where I found about it.....But I would be lost without it now that I am used to seeing my raw thumbs.

I just installed the free version...need to reboot now, but from the screenshots this looks like an awesome piece of software. The exif data in tooltips may be enough for me to buy. I'm always looking at the properties of my images to see the exif data.

Thanks for the link!
