Too dark, too noisy? - 11-25-2005, 12:32 PM

This picture was WAY underexposed out of the camera. I did some post-processing on it, and it's much better, but of course it brought out the noise.

I'd appreciate your opinions on it as it is now. I think it's still a tad dark. However, any more work on it brings out too much noise. As far as my limited PS skills go, this is a happy medium.

Here's what I started with:

And what I've done with it:

If you're bored and would like to work on it, please feel free. Just be sure to let me know what you did.

Just curious... was the original a RAW or jpeg? Did you use any noise reduction on it?

Question Quick Try - 11-25-2005, 12:52 PM

Lightened more, run through Noiseware software, boosted colors 20%, Sharpened.

Would work better on originally sized file.

Very nice work, Bruce!!! Thanks!

I tried it using Noiseware and more work in PS 7.0 (it's all I have). It's not quite as good as yours, but I think I came fairly close.

Yes sir, it is!

The Wildcats didn't play nearly as well as I know they can. They were really flat the first period, but showed some life in the 2nd and 3rd.

Every team had a bad game now and then, and I guess Wednesday night was one of the 'Cats. I'm sure the next game between them will be a good one.

If It's Just Exposure - 11-25-2005, 01:15 PM

Looks Good. If the only deficiency in the rest of your shots is basically just exposure, then with some pp work you should be able to recover them.

In my original post, neither had any noise reduction on it. And the original is a JPEG. I haven't shot in RAW yet.

I know, I should... But as of now, I don't have the memory card space for it. After Christmas will be a different story.

I'll try too! I did levels, Katrin Eismann Fill Flash action from the internet - reduced the opacity slider thing, white point balance on the white stripe on the background, and then neat image.
