I took some pictures of a parade in town and submitted them to two local newspapers (they are both very small publications.). They liked the pictures and want me to shoot more for them, however they don't pay for free-lance photos. Instead they have offered to give me a byline. I'm still an amatuer but someday I would like to make a little money from my photos. Is this a good way to get experience or am i being taken advantage of? I have had bad luck in my fulltime profession(law enforcement) when it came to working for free. Any comments/suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks,
Chris911
