Lightbulb Need Tips for tomorrows shoot. - 11-08-2010, 04:44 PM

Hopefully I got this up in time for you guys to offer help/advice. I am going to do an executive style shoot with my wife. The thing is she is not an executive businesswoman type. She is in the military, so the only type of executive portrait i keep coming to is a stiff portrait with her in her uniform. For my class I need 3 different shots, poses, etc. for an executive portrait. Any help is appreciated.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!

I looked there, but my problem is, I will be shooting in a college studio, with a high key sweep. Not much as far as a background goes, but white. And she will be in digi-dot camo, not a business suit.

Any ideas on poses?

Well, I think the serious look is something to go for. Shoot level to her left side and right side and straight forward shots should do it. Try different exposures on each pose and pick out the best.
Try low angles or stand on a chair and look down at her for different angle shots.
Or her sit in a chair, then you'll be higher looking down while standing.
I also suggest to use a tripod for most of your shots to keep your pictures clean without camera shake.
Good luck and would love to see them when you get done. Best thing is to be relaxed and just shoot a bunch.

what a challenge. problem with uniforms is that there is a certain mystique and respect that they are supposed to inspire.

maybe one where you shadow the eyes real hard, give kind of hard, edgy, scary look to it? LOL
