Photo Contest

Hey all!


Not sure if this is the proper place to post this thread, but I figured I'd give it a shot.


I recently started out in the business back in Feb of this year. I've been having "photo contest" on my FB (which I just now discovered is no longer allowed).


Only prob is, nobody really enters them.
Kinda makes me feel a bit horrible, because sometimes, the prize up for grabs is a free session. I feel like I'm begging for photo entries. The contest I am currently running (4 entries total) has only gained me one more "fan" than I had before.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong, and what I should do more (or less) of.


Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!

hey Casey!
Maybe it would be better if you chose the best images from your year and then put it out there for all your clients to send off to their clients to vote? Just a thought... :-)

grr, my elaboration to that got cut off...

In my experience, clients would rather me do the work and them just show it off to their friends and family to vote. It's hard to remember that clients aren't always coming back to the website to check it out to see what's going on. You might also want to send out a newsletter with the info!

Photo contest not allowed on FB? Can you elaborate, I see them every now and then, though some are just links to the contest info on the photogs blog.

Yes. Frowny face on the no FB contest policy.

Its actually not old news, but I'm guessing they are just now starting to crack down.
I have a contest currently running, but haven't really been advertising too much for, in fear they'll give my account the boot.

I wasn't aware of this either. I have noticed a bit of a slowdown on the photo contests as of late; this would explain it!
