John,

What your looking for, with women, is "soft light". This will reduce the appearance of those lines/wrinkles/etc. To get soft light you need your source to be as big and close as possible. Do this with a white bedsheet, large window (covered with bedsheet) or bounce your flash off the wall behind you. Also, a reflector under her will help reduce blemishes. (google "glamour light")

As for posing I'd include a few from a higher angle. This does an amazing job, with some, of ironing out wrinkles on the neck and double chins.

Golden hour sun through a not-so-perfectly-clean window and an assistant with a large reflector is probably the cheapest way to go.

also if she has a lot of lines, she will appreciate some light touchup in LR or CS. portrait professional looks good too.

actually, if she is over 30, no matter how many lines she will probably appreciate a small amount of touchup. (or 25 or 20 or 15, etc)

Recently my wife asked me to take portraits of her Bunko Ladies. When I was finished the floor around my editing station was 3 inches deep in wrinkles :).
