Too early to hire/shoot models? - 12-20-2010, 09:42 AM

So far, I've been getting to grips with my camera and shooting things around my home (and my little girl).

I want to get into portraitures, and lifestyle photography, so would it be a good idea to just get with a model this early in the game and learn the craft with them?

Would it be a waste of time?

You gotta start somewhere.... You can do TFCD/TFP's(Time for CD/Prints)

Try out different workshops or Meet-ups

I dont understand your question, It is worded as if your thinking of getting with a model to learn portrait photography? and that makes no sense to me?

Can you expand on your original question

If you have the time and the money, that is a starting point. The second factor to consider would choosing your focus. Will the focus be lighting or composition or both? Ask yourself what you are wanting to learn or to notice. Will the interest be ambient lash or flash? Maybe, your first challenge will be posing the model. Start out with a particular central focus so that you do not overwhelm yourself. Then add to it as you move along.

This is my question. And just just portrait, but lifestyle photography as well.

Why doesn't it make sense?

Nevermind, I think I understand, modelmayhem, as others have suggested, is a good starting point.
