Slide show software - 12-27-2005, 07:51 AM

Need recommendations on what software to buy my daughter to create slide shows with (to music). She has used Powerpoint but the files get too big and I don't want to buy her Photoshop. Suggestions?

I agree as well; also, Pics2Exe is a good program.

I am awaiting the release of this software. it looks like it will build slide shows for the internet and perhaps just for your computer.

For what it's worth, you may want to consider Adobe Premier Elements. It gives you good slide show capabilities (from what I know) and also gives you full video editing capabilites for down the road!

Thanks everyone. I downloaded the ProShow Gold and it appears to be exactly what I was looking for. My daughter is now happy that she finally got the one Christmas present that she really wanted. Better late then never.

You should love ProShow Gold I have been using it for several years and think it is a great product. Allows you to do alot but not some much it becomes over complicated. Try the CD Video, great way to make CD that play on your DVD player with the TV.

I think by now you have the idea that ProShow Gold is a good one.

Here is a link to a show I did awhile back just playing around with it and some Fort Worth images.

not sure what I am doing wrong, but I have downloaded the trial version of pro show gold and built test slide shows 3 times each of the three times my system has crashed.

fairly new computer, windows xp sp2 with automatic updates. and other software (lots acutally). I havent yet done a controlled test to attempt to find what might be causing problems. just trying out the software for functionality.

I am sure it is a solvable problem since several of you are using it happily. will do some research when I have time and report if I find anything.

I too have downloaded the trial version of Pro Show gold because of recommendations not only here but from other friends who use the software and I am having the same issues as well, it gets to a point and freezes up and the program stops responding and I am running an AMD Athlon 2.6ghz with 1 gig of ram and barely anything running in the background.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the "Trial Version" but according to the website the "Trial Version" is supposed to be "Fully Functional" but I have yet to get it to work either although I may try it with something smaller than 150+ photos and a MP3 file.

What I am currently using is ACDSEE 7.0 and it did a good job but I want it to be a little easier which is what the Pro Show Gold looks to do so I can input multiple songs to a Slide Show.

Anyone else having issues like this also? Or can tell us non software "Pheeks" what we are doing wrong?

Steve

quick note - i built a html slide show from psd images and put it on my web site.
you can see it run if you wish by going to ronnies photos and then click on test slide show

I would be intrested in how long it takes to start and run the show on your computer. it is quick on mine but I have 3 meg(git?) fiber internet connection.
