Lens? the longest one you have, on a tripod, beanbag, or with VR running, and braced really well.

The moon photographs TINY most of the time. A preplanned spot, something in the foreground to give scale and add intertest, photos just after moonrise, when it is at its largest.

Basic "Sunny 16" exposure, (Shutter speed at ISO, & F/16) because the moon is illuminated by full sunlight, bracketed.

Forecast is for cloudy here...DRAT!

Good luck to all, and be safe!

Took a test photo ISO 200, f16, 1/200 sec. Not quite full moon yet.

Although the suggestion of foreground interest is a good one, the image size of the moon will be the same at whatever time the photograph is taken.

For the majority of the time you'll actually want to turn the IS/VR OFF, but it depends upon which lens(es) you're using. Can make a big difference b/t a sharp and soft image.

yeah it was a branch. I was using these tree's to frame them in the other shots i got. This one tended to give the best sharpness and detail to the moon. LOL
