Pinhole help! - 12-05-2007, 01:34 AM

This is the first time I've tried pinhole, and although an image IS showing up,there is an odd visible vanishing-point effect going on. Four triangles, from the 4 sides of the neg,2 light and 2 dark, keep making a vanishing point into the middle of the neg that is ruining it! Anyone know what this is and what I'm doing wrong?

First,Pin Hole has no "Ruined". The wonder and beauty of this process is that it is unpredictible.

http://thephotoforum.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=27

if this doesn't take you there go to the forums tab, then to "film photography" then to "Alternative processes"

has a wonderful resource board full of alternative shooters, many who play with pinhole, who may give you details on your specific "problem".

This is just my humble and out-there experience talking...It may be the shape of your hole, what did you use to make your hole. Thumb tacks sort of make a squareish hole that can make triangle-y edges to the image. Ideally, one should use a needle, the finer the better to make the hole. I've only done a hand full of pinhole images with about as many cameras...about a hand full is 6 rolls of 35 mm film.

ps...what ever you do if you go over there...don't mention digital vs film debate... or how a process might be duplicated in Photoshop...we bite for that behavior. LOL...(pps..this is a joke but not really, them's fighting words over there)
