Edgy Photography - 03-28-2008, 02:49 PM

I’ve seen on some model sites that there are models looking for photographers to do “Edgy Photography”, excuse my ignorance but exactly what does that mean? I’ve tried to find examples but still do not have a clear understanding, can anyone help me?

Edgy is a broad term. What is edgy to you might not be edgy to someone else. Edgy to me is politically incorrect. The personal project I am working on will definitely be considered edgy, but I'm still a month away from completion.

Edgy on sites like Model Mayhem could be implied nude, urban decay etc... Generally something different than the standard studio/location shoots that you see.

Just ask the clients for them to specifically define what type of "edgy" stuff they want. As Mike said, it is a really broad term and can be used to describe any number of vague things.

Thanks for your input that helps. Your description makes sense since what I was finding that was labeled “edgy” had an extreme range of appearance, some of which looks like photography I already do, your suggestion to have the client clarify “what kind” of edgy is a great idea.
