I Need Help: v1/3: Camera body cleanings? - 03-12-2005, 05:08 PM

Ok guys this is the first in my 3 threads im posting, needing a bit of help with a few things.

The first is, well ive had the 20D since it first came out not too long ago and i ALWAYS take care of my stuff, but lately ive noticed some specs when i look through the viewfinder. Its not on the lenses since i still see it even when a lens isnt mounted. I tried cleaning the mirrors, but with my DSLR's i get too scared and end up saying awww screw it. I called a few places and no one really does any types of cleanings. One place quoted me like $136 but it was this FOB asian guy and i couldnt really understand him. Any ideas or thoughts?

soundsl ike either on the mirror or on the sensor itself... if youve clean the mirror then its on the sensor.

heres a good link on how to clean it...

i had some hard to get rid of specs on the mirror of my D60. there are 2 surfaces of the mirror, one you can see when the lens is off, the other side to get to it you need to move up about 1/2 way to open up a space between the back side of the mirror and a little curtain thingy. take your rocket blower or the brush ed of your les pen and carefully work it in there as see if that does it.

also you may need to go up inside where the focus screen is and clean up there

Generally if you can see the dust spots in good sharp focus then they are not on the lens or CCD.
A note it all, DON'T use canned air to blow off the mirror or things inside the camera, use only a bulb to do this.

It it is a blurred area then look at the lens. If you do not see them in the viewfinder but you do see them on an image, then look at the CCD. I just have to say this... I don't have to worry about dust on the CCD, the E1 cleans it every time I turn the camera on.
