Storage of Photos - 01-16-2006, 01:42 PM

I store my work on a 2nd hard drive and then make CDs. Now I have been reading a lot lately that CDs have a limited life, about 5 years, before you start to lose data.
One fellow recommended you go back to storing on tape, not a happy thought
So what is everyone doing or thinking about when it comes to the long term retention of our digital images.

I make backups on DVDs, heard about the 5-yr life span. Sounds like scare tactics.

AJ, HD has life too. It will not spin up after few years (may be 20, I don't know) sitting in your garage.

I make a backup on DVD and two external hard drives. I store one of the external hard drives at my office.

Delkin makes a 100-year archival CD.
