DemDeep makes some very good points. Most folks don't use half the features available on their cameras regardless if it is a point and shoot or a sophisticated DSLR ( I can hear them lining up to argue that point already), So, get something that takes good photos and is capable of being operatied by a novice. The more gizmos on the camera, the better chances of flubbing the shot. If the time comes and you need some pro grade photos of your kids , boyfiend/girlfreind, grandma, etc. give me a call and I will bring all my fancy equipment over and dazzle you with all the bells and whistles....

P.S. My favorite place in the world is Tortola, B.V.I., etc.

ModelMode- the 4300 has a very sharp lens for the price range. It is as sharp as most other point and shoots and it is very easy to use. For the price, it is a very nice camera.

krodgers,

Go along to Walmart, Albertsons or Tom Thumb and look at the cheap models they have there - you'll probably find something in that price range.
I know Albertsons used to sell Digital Cameras from behind their customer service counter for example.
