DNG Conversion?

This is a discussion on DNG Conversion? within the Photo Tips forums, part of the Photography Information category; Just curious... Do any of you convert your RAW files to DNG format via Adobe DNG Converter?...

Just curious... Do any of you convert your RAW files to DNG format via Adobe DNG Converter?

I have before, but not on a regular basis. I find it's actually more convenient to do so from within camera RAW, because I'm already working in Bridge to do file culling and such, then I just select them all from Bridge, open up ACR and have it save them as DNG.

Excuse my newbish question, but why would I want to do that? What does DNG do for me?
