Photowiz Focalblade - best/most powerful sharpening plugin I've found
Neat Image Pro+ - excellent noise reduction; although from what I've heard recent versions of Noise Ninja may be even better
The Imaging Factory's Convert to B&W Pro - excellent B&W convertor with lots of options
Kodak GEM Digital Airbrush Pro - works well for retouching portraits (just back off from the too-strong default settings)

Those are really the only plug-ins I use with any regularity.

I think you'll be OK, they have a thin candy shell. I'm surprised you didn't know that.

Noise ninja - just bought the pro pack and it's excellent.

The rest of them (B&W converters, color fixers etc) - I have some of them, but I'd rather learn how to do it myself instead of relying on a 3rd party pack. Personal choice thing I suppose.

I use the NIK Efex series a lot. Also do quite a bit with Dreamsuite 1 and 2 and Mystical Lighting ( http://autofx.com/ ). For borders, etc, I use PGE 6. I like CSPro for sharpening ( http://rfredricksmith.com/link/?a=FredMiranda ). When I want to do collages I use FotoFusion ( http://rfredricksmith.com/link/?a=FotoFusion ) with final cleanup in Photoshop.

This photo of Kami used Extensis PhotoFrame, NIK eFex and CSPro:

cheers,
Roger
