Time Lapse Photography - 12-31-2011, 05:39 PM

I'm hoping that you guys can help me out on this one. My stepdaughter has bought a lot here in Town Lake, about four blocks from me. I think it would be pretty neat to take some shots each day after construction starts so that I can make a time lapse film for my grandkids and their parents. of course I know nothing about time lapse and have no idea what to do. For instance I'm estimating from start to finish it will take two or three months to finish the outside of the house. My house took about five months to finish.
I'd like the final film to last about five to ten min. Including inside and outside shots. I have no idea how to go about this, is there a simple software program I can use? About how many shots per day to get the desired length? Raw or jpeg? You get the idea, I know nothing about this. D-700 or D-300; does it make a difference? I'm planning on shooting at the same time of day to keep things somewhat consistent.
I would like to use inexpensive software as this will probably be the only time it gets used. Any answers?

Lightroom works if you use LRTimelapse

This is a good LINK to a Time Lapse forum

Thanks, I'll check those out. I didn't know lightroom had that built in.

It's not really "built in". I don't know what the program does exactly but creating a time lapse in LR is a multi-step process.

Most of the time lapses that I've done were done with LR Timelapse

Here's one:

For what you want to do you may need video editing software. I am using Premiere Pro but there are other, cheaper options. I did this "video" with Premiere Pro (barely used any of the features).

And this little thing was with my iPhone and some audio editing in Premiere Pro. This one is slapped together and has a ton of mistakes but I wanted to play with audio layering so it served it's purpose.
