It's been a while since I intentionally did some silhouette work. Might need to rectify that.

I use them a lot for sunsets, the silhouette of trees adds depth to a sunset/sunrise, regardless of the color in the sky. A shot of a sunset/rise almost always needs to be 'anchored' with some visual reference to the ground, silhouetting the forground can do that without distracting from the main subject. A good foreground texture from a tree or the like can make even a non-spectacular sunset pop a bit more.

Haven't tried this much with people, perhaps I should....
