I think the reason that many of the members of our community are nervous about this taking this type of photo. Fortunately, group portrait photography of a family or other group is not overly difficult as long as you know a few steps to take in order to get a great photo.

I'm actually spending tomorrow doing a photo shoot for a group of 16 Show Choir teens. I have been researching all day to see what poses I should do and lighting (outdoors, I don't have a reflector). I'm glad I stumbled on this as well as the other articles I found.

I have been away for awhile but any suggestions of those of you on right now would be awesome. I will be shooting at 9am at a Park and the School that the teens went to.

I have come up with 6 poses.
1. Group pose: Guys standing, some girls kneeling and the others sitting (at park in grass, boulders and trees)
2. Show choir lines: During one of their more memorable performances they did a balliwood piece. They stood in lines with the guys in back and girls in various poses in the lines (3 lines: in park in the grass)
3. Circle: Have them stand around me (one smiles, one silly faces: at the park)
4. Silly: Park and the school
5. Jump: School steps
6. Steps outside of the performance hall
