Help On Light And Shadow

I need to take light and shadow pictures.

Does anyone know somewhere where I could go for this.
In the Dallas area?

and do you guys have any tips on the best way to go about it.

I'm thinking of doing silhouettes

the subject does not matter, this is more on the light

Look for interesting buildings, trees, etc. and explore them just before sunset as the light is hitting them almost horizontally. Look for surfaces with texture that are almost parallel to the incident light and see how the surface texture is casting shadows on the surface itself.
