Dan Margulis's _Photoshop LAB Color_? - 02-11-2006, 09:17 AM

Have any of you read this and tried his ideas? I've read his _Professional PhotoShop_ book on color correctiong and found it challanging to say the least. I would like to learn more about using LAB but is this the place to start?

I've read about half of it, yes, it's heavy going but I certainly learnt a great deal. I plan to read it again and am sure it will make more sense as I learn more. I'd say try and persevere.

It actually starts out pretty accessible, with some relatively simple to follow "recipes" that you can begin using without fully understanding all the technical details. So if you're at all comfortable working in Photoshop I think you would get some good out of it. The later chapters get to be pretty heavy, but to be honest some of the stuff he was doing in those later chapters wasn't terribly interesting to me.

Seriously though, this book is worth the purchase price even if you only read "easy" half of the first three chapters. It will definitely give you some new tools in your post-processing arsenal that can make a big difference for certain kinds of shots.

Thanks for the insight, Jeff. I think base on this an others I'll be getting a copy as soon as Amazon sends me my rewards for the 5D I just ordered from them.
