Bowling photo - 02-17-2006, 01:21 PM

Alright, so I'm about to take a photo of a local bowling club, and I'd like to do something really creative and unique. I was thinking either motion panning of a bowler about to throw the ball, or a silhouette of the bowler from the back just after he's throw in. Any suggestions?

A long exposure rear curtain flash sync shot showing bluring of the bowler about to release the ball blended into a sharp image of the bowler and the ball frozen in air?

Here's what you do...

Go halfway down the lane, turn and face the top of the lane and get down on your knees. Place a bowling ball about 2 feet in front of you and then have the bowler in the background posing as if they just rolled the ball. Focus is on the bowler.

In PS, you can blur the ball to give it the sense of motion.

That's how I'd shoot it...

PS. You can have some fun with it and place the ball in the gutter and have your bowler making a humorous facial expression.

A shot from behind the pins toward the bowler would be neat. You might have to move fast though at the last moment.
