How do you get these colors - 03-12-2006, 04:12 PM

So, I'm watching this movie called, Domino, and I love the cinematography in the movie. It's very gritty and edgy and the colors are great. How do I get these type of colors in slr digital photography? I know there used to be films and such and types of developments that would give you this stuff b4, but what methods do you use in photoshop to do this stuff.

Here's a couple of still pics from Hollywood.com, but they are not as edgy and gritty as a lot of the movie, itself, but this will give you an idea.

Not sure without looking at some examples. Haven't had a chance to see the movie yet. Maybe you could try Adobe Studio Exchange and try to find some image effects for what your looking for. http://share.studio.adobe.com/

Added a couple example pics above. They are not as extreme as some of the footage, but they were the best examples that I could find in still pics of the film.

Almost looks like some form of cross processing.

Me? No. Someone else? Yes! LOL.

Actually, I have some actions that do similar things - just can't find them now!

If you find them, let me know. I'd like to do some edgy kind of stuff like that, not for pj work, but for bands, models, etc., editorial.

Cool, thanks! Looks like most of this stuff you have to have CS or higher. Right now, I only have Elements 3.0, so I guess I have to wait.

Yeah if you are trying to do it digitally, look up photoshop techniques to replicate cross-processing slide film. Probably a search on google for photoshop and crossprocessing will yield a lot of results.

Thanks, I'll try that. Hopefully, there are some for Elements.

Closest I have found is the urban acid action from here. I think you may be able to get close using curves adjustment. It is only for photoshop though.
