Need Large Prints - 03-14-2006, 11:13 AM

I am going to have 6-8 photos that I need enlarged to 4'X5' and then mounted on a foam board. I am in the Dallas area and need to do this as cheap as can be. The photos will be used in a video production so the quality does not need to be super sharp as the photos will be OOF a touch. What are some suggestions for printing this size. The photos need to be printed in color and I am thinking they can be printing on banner material but it all depends on cost. Please give me some ideas, thanks.

That is a tall order. Especially when you have to worry about cost. What I might suggest is to print the image on a few smaller (but still sizeable) prints and then mount them as a single image. If it were for up close display it would never work. But as a background image for video it should do fine. And you are going to find that it will be gobs cheaper.

Prophet out.

a print that is 24" by 36" at Ritz is $40 plus shipping and I will guarantee larger prints will be exponentially higher, to be honest prints of the size you are looking at will probably be in the $200 or more range each!
Like Digital Prophet said maybe find a way to print out your work in a mosaic and then trim them down and paste them together on the backerboard that you want to use.
You can contct this lab in Dallas http://www.bwc.net/main.php?page=services

I use White House (http://www.whcc.com) for my printing. I've purchased many 20x30 prints at just under $25. A 24x36 is just under $40 ($39.50) & that includes 2nd day shipping with UPS.

Unfortunately, it looks like the largest they'll print is 30xwhatever size at $5.10 a square foot.

If this photoboard is being used in a video presentation, why not just keep it digital and then insert it into the video without even making the print? Or is this beyond the equipment capabilities available??

Qimage can print multi-page posters.

http://www.ddisoftware.com/qimage/feature.htm

free download and evaluation.

Depending on how big you print, and how may pages it would take to assemble your poster, paper and ink could add up to be expensive. I suppose that if up close quality is not an issue, you could print on cheap photo paper and at less than maximum quality to preserve ink.

I have used Qimage for a long time for all my photo printing, but I have never attempted a poster.

hope this helps.
