This is a discussion on Platinotype Action within the Photo Tips forums, part of the Photography Information category; Huxley contacted me and asked it I could come up with an action to mimic the platinotype style seen on ...
Well here's my effort, just follow the directions in the action. All these layers are editable if you want to tweak the color or whatever else. As always, this was created in PSCS2 and will probably only work on full PS, not Elements.

ok heres my stab at the action blue created upon my request. the ONLY thing i added was a pastel magenta layer at 25% opacity. my border is a bit ham fisted but you get the idea.
i had tried to create the action on my own before i sought help from blue, but could not get the curve adjustment layer to look anywhere near blues action. i cant thank evil4blue enough... he didnt have to do a thing and he went out of his way to do so. i owe you one.
These look great, but in reviewing the curve and it's output, I realized that my curve had a tad too much green in it. I reformulated the curve and I think the new curve has truer tones to the platinotype look. Here's the original curve output compared to the new curve. The differences are subtle but there. The V2 action is below.
if i remember right blue, when i ran the action it was a tad dark for my taste ... i compinsated by messing with the rgb numbers, i think i used R-20 G10 and B 70. oh and i did forget to mention that i added a hint of diffused glow along with the magenta layer. the glow lightened it up just enough to where i was comfortable with it.
