time spent on each pose/photo bridals - 04-04-2006, 05:19 PM

I was strolling through the arboretum the other day, and noticed several shoots going on. It was taking a considerable amount of time for each shot. I stood there for several minutes, bride posed, and on one saw one shot, and the other, no flash pop at all. How much time do y'all usually spend on each bridal pose, or what is your process on these photos. I'm new, and just wondering.

Bridals tend to take longer to arrange than the average person getting their portrait taken. There are simply more things to arrange. Veils, dress...bouqets..rings on fingers...etc. Biggest time consumer is the hem of the dress and preventing it from getting dirty. We do this (and most photogs do this) by placing her on a white sheet...arranging the dress how we want it then tucking the sheet under her dress enough to not be seen, but still have the hem resting on it. Every single time you move you have to go through this process. If you have a bride that knows how to "work it" ;) it doesn't take as long to pose her body after you have the dress arranged.
