I need a way to take my logo (currently a layered psd file) and make it into something that I can easily stamp, paint, or otherwise place on my finished web images. I've searched several sites and found ways to make brushes from vector graphics, but I'm starting with a psd file (could be flattened and made into any photoshop compatible format). Here is a flattened jpg version for reference and an image that I 'pasted' it onto. The paste operation is sort of a pain.
Is there any 'easy' way?

DOH! I'm such a dolt!
File->Place
Works like a charm. I even inserted a stop in the action to allow me to move the image where I want it before the flatten. Starts with my edited tif image in aRGB, then converts to sRGB, resizes, extends the canvas, places the logo, then flattens. All ready to save as jpg and on to the next one...
Opinions?

Is this the kind of thing you're looking for? http://takegreatpictures.com/Article...1/default.aspx
I did this with my signature (then elected to print instead 'cuz I got a little paranoid openly sending my real signature across the net) Here's a sample of what mine looked like (look in the lower left corner).

Interesting Scott, I never knew what File -> Place was for. I like your logo, it's recognizable but not too obstrusive.
My sig is just text so I have it added as part of the matte in my save-for-web action.
Peter the problem with a custom brush is that you can't record brush strokes in an action, so this approach won't work if you're wanting to batch a whole bunch of images (at least not that I've been able to figure out).

I'd test that, but I'm doing a big batch process right now. I don't recall any issues with that in the past... but I've been wrong before...

I recently watched this video on doing logos using paths in photoshop...really cool and it came in handy when I need to add text to 79 different images the other day. Saved me tons of $$$ because I didn't pay the lab to do it and it only took about 5 minutes to set up as an action. http://av.adobe.com/russellbrown/BrandingSM.mov

Looks good Scott. Only thing I could suggest is setting the logo opacity to something like 80% which would allow the logo to blend in to the photograph a little. The size seems perfect to me.
Nice action by the way. Care to share?!?

For adding my graphic (JPG or PNG) logo to a batch of images, I use PhotoWatermark Professional. You can also create your own watermark in the program. It works really well to automatically size the images and add the watermark to a specific location of the images at a specific size. http://www.photowatermark.com

I use the paths method described here: http://av.adobe.com/russellbrown/BrandingSM.mov
I inserted a stop in mine where I can eye dropper select the foreground color before doing a Fill, then I lower the opacity slightly to allow it to blend into the background some.
I like this method as it allows me to have a perfectly placed logo with a complimentary color to the photograph.

If you want ot make a brush out of a logo, just select it with a marquee, then go to Edit>Define Brush preset.. the white areas are transparent, darker areas are more opaque, I believe. You can then use it like any other brush/stamp.

I liike what you did. Here is what I do too (and why):
I defined my logo like http://takegreatpictures.com/Article...1/default.aspx
I prep my images (whatever that image needs). After I crop my image according to the order size, I brush the logo on wherever it might need to go. Often I'll hold down alt to color pic just before stamping to ensure a compatible color etc. I know some people stamp before cropping and just go for a general placement that might equally serve 2:3 and 4:5 orientations, but that never seems to work for me. Sure takes longer to describe than to do!

srwatters-I tried the file-place, but no matter how I save my place file, I end up with a white background the size of the canvas I created it on. Even if saved with a transparent background, when I place it, the sig is surrounded by a white rectangle. How do you get your's to be transparent? I'm using PS 6, old I know, but it usually does the job for me. Thanks for any help.

Take a look at my psd file here and see if it will open in your PS version. That is the exact file that I place.
Good luck.

Photoshop files, as well as GIF and PNG files, support transparency in the images which allow other objects to be seen throught the transparent areas when combined with another image. JPEG files do not support transparency, so you get a white area filling in the areas that were transparent in Photoshop. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
