Which Lense to use - 04-19-2006, 12:03 AM

Bummed the knee up pretty good so instead of riding the MS-150 this year I'm gonna sit outside of Bellville and take pictures of my cycling team as they ride by. Question is which lense is the better choice. 28-100 f/3.5-5.6 or the 70-300 f/4-5.6?

Take both and use the 70-300 for the team, and the 28-100 for Bluebonnets. And sorry about the knee. I have ridden a few centuries, including the MS150, and that's a lot of hard work.

No it a Quantaray Tech-10
I've had it for a while since I bought my Maxxum 400si several years back. Haven't used it much. I want to save up for a Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 with any luck I'll find a deal on eBay or some place else.

I just bought one of these; I was waiting for the new Di model, but this was too good a deal to pass up.

Cameta also sells Sigma, and they are competitive.

Ken, try bouncing it of a ceiling. Mine under-exposed in my den with the subject 5' in front of me. Cameta said they would either issue credit or send it to Sigma and I opted for credit. A fellow up North took them up on the repair option and told me yesterday that he isn't too happy with it. Apparently you either get a good one or a lemon. Hope yours is good.

What I found is that you have to set your shutter above the sync speed and then your exposures will come out most every time. I also opted for it after discussing with someone at the camera co-op who told me they frequently see similar problems even with the name brand flashes KM, Nikon & Cannon
