Did I Photograph Some Ghosts? - 05-18-2006, 10:19 PM

This is really weird. I found this while putting together a presentation that I will be doing on the Houston Rodeo next month. I have no idea what happened here. This must be some kind of reflection of the audience behind me coming through my eyepiece. But my eye was in the finder throughout this pan.

Here's one theory... no idea if this is what happened, but it would make sense...

If in the last few micro seconds of your exposure, somebody across the way was taking a flash picture at nearly the same time your shutter was closing, you'd get a clear shot of the people in the exposure area. It happened to a friend of mine taking a picture at the UT football stadium once. It's a rare thing to happen, but it's not impossible...

Great shot BTW... ghosts or no ghosts... and if it bothers you, clone it out... but I'd say keep it.

Hmm... that must be the reason. There is a bit of a hot spot to the right of the "Ghosts" that could be a flash angled 90° from my position. I have other images with someonelse's flash pointing directly at me. Those ones are are obvious.

Yes they are ghosts.. It is well known that 3 people got killed there by a freak barrel racing accident!!!!! Something about a loose horse shoe flew off in the early 1980's.. Big news for the longest time.. Thats them!!!

If you look, you can see that two of your "ghosts" are facing that hot spot and posing... what a weird shot... very cool.

Chris: that comment was worthy of Bill. LOL

That is a great shot!!
I agree that it looks like a flash from the crowd, and the "ghosts" are facing the flash.

The comment and explanations make sense and there probably is a logical explanation of this phenomenon but.....

I like to think "GHOSTS!". That is a whole lot funner.
