Mail-order - 06-02-2006, 10:52 PM

Alright, I know this isn't the best place for this.

I want to do B&W photography. I can't afford an enlarger or scanner just yet so doing my own developing isn't going to work.

Has anyone had experience with a mail-order service? I'm high-school student so money's really important here. I don't use prints. I'm kind of a hybrid of the traditional film world and digital. I prefer to use scans of my negatives. Is there a service where I can send of my film, get scans emailed back to me and get my negatives back in the mail?

I do 35mm. How much would you estimate as a minimum price I could get away with and be able to develop my film?

I'm thinking I might get a lower-end negative scanner in lieu of an enlarger, but then I do love black and white prints.

If you like black and white prints, you should then plan on a dedicated B&W printer and not waste time with a printer which uses color ink as you'll never get (at least I think) satifactory results.

Here are some links about this.

An Epson printer for this can be found here.
