A friend of mine and his wife are looking to adopt a child. The agency has requested a photo book that kind of documents a day in the life. Anyone ever taken on a project like this? Any ideas what the agency is looking for?

Seems like shots in photojournalistic style that walks the viewer through an average day in this couple's life. Them working, playing, laughing, having fun, etc... all of that in interesting angles.

Basically your job is to make the couple appealing or sell em to the agency.

I'd highly recommend checking out this photographer's website.
Her work is beyond amazing.

...very interesting images, but if you showed half of the shots of the rapper Trigg in your shots - lines of coke and other drugs - you can kiss that adoption good-bye!!

Seriously - good luck with the adoption!

I did this for my sister in law and her husband after they adopted their son from Thailand. There was like a 6 month period that they required before everything was finalized. So what they (social worker) were asking for was pics of them, the parents and child, at the park, at home, playing in the yard, riding a bike. Just everyday type pictures.

This might be diffrent because this was after they brought him home from Thailand but it might help to understand what they want.

My wife was in Foster homes in Louisiana and the social workers showed her a small album of images of the couple that was going to adopt them. Basically photos of the home, the neighborhood, just to show the child what they are going to. The concern in shooting the photos should be, are these to convince the social worker (thus showing the most positive view possible) or are these for the child (who will be living in the environment and would be discouraged if the photos portray a false ideal). I have seen the album and it looked like my in laws (her adopted parents) shot the photos themselves or the social worker shot them.

Side note here, they are using slideshowpro to dispay their images. And her photos do capture...authentic moments (I guess?).
