What size do people normally shoot their photos: 1M, 3M or up to 8M.
Then, when sizing in photoshop, what size do you go down to: 8 inches wide or so many pixels? in order to post them.
I've posted some but the size seems a lot smaller then others posted. I know it has a lot to do with the host used but just wondering if I can go bigger. (I've been making my images about 7 inches wide).
Hope this question makes sense.

I always shoot my pictures at the max quality. That way you have recorded the best you can get. I rarely ever need that quality, but it's there if I ever do.
For posting here, I resize them to approx 640X480, or however it works for the sensor your camera has. My MkII it constrains out to 640X427.

I use a Canon 10D which has a max resolution of 6.3mp. I always shoot highest resolution as well. I normally resize down to 640x480 or 800x600 for web viewing depending on the forum I post to. Some have a limit on the number of pixels on the longest side. I don't think there is a limit on this forum (I could be wrong, of course) but you want to keep the dial-up users in mind.

I am with the other 2, max res....
I have learned, you can always make them smaller, but you sure can't make them bigger.
For the web I use 800x600 most of the time. http://www.pbase.com/wlhuber/resize

I shoot mostly in RAW, but when choose to shoot JPG I use the dRebel's Large Compressed (not Large Fine). Most people say you can't tell the difference. When I get 4x6 prints (the majority of them) from RAW files, Photoshop Elements interprets as 240ppi with X width and Y height. Now that I am gettting my prints at Costco and they have upload capability, I started reducing my files to 4x6 inches in size, resolution stays at 240ppi. I save it as JPG at a "quality setting" of 9 or 10 (on Photoshop's JPG scale of 12). Moving from 12 to 10 makes the file much, much smaller without compromising quality, IMO. For a 5x7 or 8x10 I also size to match. I guess 8x10 I pretty much leave alone on the sizing. My online images are not that big; I reduce the ppi to 72 and use 600x400 for landscape and 300x450 for portrait. I prefer the image fit on my web site without scrolling. If I was looking for a specific critique I'd go up to 800x600 for a larger image. Sorry if that was too much detail!

Suzy | The last poll I did on the OTF showed that 50% of the users have a screen size of 1024x768. This is more then enough to view an 800x600 image without scrolling. But that 800x600 image on a 1280x1024 is really very small. http://www.pbase.com/otfchallenge/image/27541488

I tend to take into consideration screen size of 1024x768 or above.

You have a little problem with some of your Aggie shots...
Of which I enjoyed very much.

Well, I went once with the dRebel but only to the George Bush Library and Bonfire Memorial which I shot all in ISO 1600! Oops. Learned my lesson. Anyway, I lived on campus for 3 years and sometimes I miss it. I miss when I had time to exercise and had a wonderful, cheap Rec center a bike ride away!

I love the place. | Whoop! :D Congrats to your daughter. I think MyKey called A&M disgusting or something like that recently  but I like it. I need to take some pics of the Century Tree. I don't think I am going to make it to Forth Worth for the zoo before it gets hot (husband has to work a bunch of weekends in the next few weeks) so maybe I will go to College Station instead. I can handle that drive on my own. (I'm a terrible bored sleepy driver but driving to College Station is practically like a reflex or something.) Oh, have you been to CoffeeStation? I love that place. ChoochooChino. Man, that's good.
Wow, this sure went OT!

I have never been to those places but I always go to Free Birds and then there is a little Mexican place just west of downtown Bryan that I like real well. I can't remember all the places we have eaten at. Each one had there own favorites that we would go to.

Mmmmmmmmm Freebirds! Man I want a burrito now. I've only been to the one in Houston a couple of times. But every time I go to College Station, I definitely stop there. Freebirds + CoffeeStation = Good!
IMO, Mission Burrito here in Houston is disgusting, and Chipotle is "OK"!
