Flush Mount (Wedding) Albums - 07-25-2006, 07:44 AM

Does anybody know what software to use to make "Flush Mount" albums. My sister is getting married this year and I saw some photographers show these Yearbook-style albums. The photos were printed right on the paper (which was actually like a thick cardboard) and the layout of the pictures was a more like a montage of photos. This is similar to what you would see in a High School Yearbook or something, but I think its a really cool effect.

Anybody know what I am talking about? I want to try out a software that can make this - I think it would be cool to experiment with.

You can do this in photoshop- I did for my wedding album. I made sure I had the correct dimensions and profiles from my photographer (for him to send off for printing and binding), and I did my own image editing and layout from his master files.

Apple's Aperture software has a really great and under utilized book builder that is totally free form. And if you want to use your own printer you just save it as a pdf.

DG Foto Art - 07-26-2006, 09:21 PM

I recently found a program that is specifically designed for creating wedding albums in a magazine style format. The program is called DG Foto Art. You can go to their website at www.pxlsoft.com I haven't purchased this program yet, but I have checked out all their demo info. It comes loaded with lots of templates that you simply drag and drop your images to. You can also import your own templates and textures that you've created through Photoshop. All the info looks great on this program, but again, I have not used it. Has any one used this program? Also, does any one have any vendors that they can recommend for printing photos and also printing and binding albums (in the Houston area)?

Rajat,
There are literally hundreds of software programs out there that create flush mount albums faster than Photoshop. Many of the are Photoshop plugins.

I have beta tested several of them.
By far, the best we've found is YSI (short for You Select it).
200 image album with 30 pages can be designed in as little as two hours.
Pricey, but time is money. It's $499.
