Thanks! Like I said, when only the very best is barely good enough...

Creating a digital intermediate copy, just like the intermediate negative of yesteryear, introduces the potential for loss or change in the original transparency. Scanning the slide for printing might be better than the old way of making an intermediate negative. It is still one step removed from the original. Printing directly from the original always has been and always will be the most faithful reproduction of a transparency. They also last and last!
