IR pictures? - 08-24-2006, 03:13 PM

Can someone give a quick synopsis of the IR process from snapping the shutter to the final result? I have a Canon XT digital that could be converted but as much as I like to see the pictures that you IR folks post, I'm somewhat clueless as to the rest of the process or if additional processing is needed after the fact. Since processing is my weakest photo area, that may be the deciding factor for me... I'm aware that the camera needs to be converted to IR or an addition filter added/removed so that's not so much the issue here.
Thanks for any info you may be able to provide...

Here's a sample IR work flow and some video for photoshop.

Thanks John, you're always able to provide good information. Your "favorites" section must be bulging with various sites and tutorials.
Thanks again

The Joseph Levy process works fine with Sony nightshot images, but it needs to be tweaked to work with modified SLR's. The colour content of the images from a modified SLR doesn't match that of the Sony's so you'll either get an output that is either essentially mono or like a migrane in progress.
I used Joseph's process for the following post, but I had to match the colour's with a Sony image first. Even then one or 2 of the steps don't make any difference.

Anyway, the point to all this nausea was that if you have your 350 converted, you'll need to play with the processing steps since it won't work like the liked article straight away.
