First attempt using this technique - 08-26-2006, 10:12 AM

I followed a tutorial if found in Digital Photo (UK) magazine that simulates turning real-life into a miniature model. I don't think the subject matter here lends itself to being a good example, but I am happy with the potential. Any thoughts?

I can't find a link to the tutorial. I got it from the magazine. Their site is here:

http://www.photographymags.co.uk/ I looked around in there and didn't see any mention of it. It's pretty long so writing it out here would take a long time. I'll keep looking around for you.

What am I missing? Blur most of image? Is that it? I guess I need to read the article... Just not understanding the appeal here. Maybe I am just not looking close enough...hrmmm

Here's a link for some examples. I guess it's not for everyone. Some use Lensbabies for similar effects, but this is the PS way to do it.

Well, it makes it look like a shallow-DOF photo of a cleverly-constructed model scene.

Yeah.. I didn't mean any disrespect.. It doesn't look natural and is hard to look at (for me). My partner uses a lens baby...It does look simiar but a little less uniform in the blur areas...

Thanks for sharing..

Here's my first attempt...

I've always liked miniatures-- I still think my dream job would be to work in a museum building minis.
