Problem/Goal: Be able to view thumbnails of my entire library, search by keywords, dates, etc. I don't keep my library on my HD, it's backed up to a plethora of DVDS, for use and archive.

Solution????

I used to use QPict, and I thought that was my solution, but their support no longer responds to me and my copy no longer works correctly, plus it was never fully searchable by keywords anyway.

I've tried iPhoto6 which claims to have offline ability, but it's not very good. If you have files with the same name it can get very confused.

I tried a demo of iView media pro. This looks like it would be exactly what I want, unfortunately if you happen to have some discs with the same label, it crashes on import of the second one.

What else is there? After having bought QPict and upgrading iPhoto I'm a bit gun shy about paying for anything. Maybe I should forget the whole idea and just buy more hard drives? At this point that would have been cheaper...

Extensis Portfolio is the Cadillac soulution http://www.extensis.com/en/products/asset_management/

The price has actually gone down over time - it's $200.
