Question for wedding photgraphers - 09-29-2006, 04:33 PM

Do you do anything special when photographing the bride in white and the groom in black? Question was raised on another fourm, the poster wanted to use high key or low key setting. I would think that the internal metering would take care of this.

Expose for the wedding gown..... nobody cares to see the pleats and cat hairs on the tuxedo, but everyone wants to see every nook and cranny of the wedding gown.

I.e. take a reading from a grey card, or something neutral. set your white balance manually if possible.

Couldn't have said that better myself!

I would definately say white balance manually. I read something not too long ago about shooting in raw and shooting a color chart (Macbeth or Kodak) in the first frame. In ACR, with the color chart, you can balance the first frame and apply the settings to all of them.

One other thing to remember, with digital, you can bring details out of the shadows but highlights are blown out forever. With film, the opposite is true.
