Creating a 20x30 poster - 10-19-2006, 09:30 AM

I have a customer that bought this 11x14 mini poster of her son.

Now her sister wants the same poster but she wants a 30x20. I've never made a poster this big.

To achieve the best looking quality of the extracted player, how should I create this poster using Photoshop CS2?

1.) Should I start with a 15x10 temlpate, then take the extracted image of the player and slighty upsize to fill the poster? Then let the printing company stretch it to the 30x20?

OR

2.)Should I start with a 30x20 template and upsize the extracted image of the player myself?

Sonny,
Are you using a pro lab to print your poster size prints? A pro lab should be able to upsize the print for you with no problem. Usually a pro lab can do a much better job of upsizing than photo shop. PM me if you are not using a pro lab and I will send you my phone no. so we can talk. BTW that is a really cool looking poster.

my strategy would be to make a 30x20 template and crop & print 11x14 inches of that (preferrebly from the middle) and see how that looks. If the printed section is good enough then go on with it, if not then you can take your chances with just doing the 15x10 template and letting the printing company blow it up. This way you'll get to see both results.

Sonny,

Speaking of posters, did you get the PM I sent you last week on the subject?

Bill - Currently I use EZPrints. They have done a great job on all my prints up to the 11x14s.

Tom - I probably did receive it. I'll go back and take a look.

First of all - WOW! Great contrasting colors!

I'd leave the size the way you originially designed it and let the pro printer enlarge it. I've had MPIX upsize a 3MP print to a 20x30 and I was very pleased. Not as sharp as yours but I was still pleased.
