So what tips can you all offer for shooting at the beach during the hours of 10-5? I will have a CPL on, but if I am going to shoot people, do I have to take the CPL off?

Leave the CPL on. Watch out for background highlights that can be blown particulary if the people are in shade (beach umbrellas, etc) and distractions, get close. Consider using fill flash for the deep shadows the direct sun is going to give you.

Watch out for sand in your camera...

the bright sand may fool your meter into underexposing, often you need to either control this in your metering style selection (spot) or deliberately overexpose since the camera will read all that sand as 18% grey.

say a small prayer for a cloudy day. that will be pretty helpful ;)

don't forget to use fill flash if you're shooting witht he sun behind them or directly above.

have fun. don't be afraid to make them get wet. make them run.

of course this is all assuming you've got people as a portrait subject... i guess you could just be shooting the beach itself, huh?
