I have two formats for portfolios. An 8 1/2 X 11 and a 13X19.

I have a portfolio for each subject matter ie. sports, wildlife, flowers, etc. I combine both horizontal and vertical orientations in each.

My black and white portfolio is at www.pbase.com/lscottpht. If you click on the "Favorites" category, those are the ones. I am in the process of putting the color ones together for a second "Favorites" category. These are what I use for my humanitarian/documentary/pj clients to look at. I will be adding some more images after I shoot more within the US. When you send email images to people to look at, they usually want around 72 dpi for simple viewing, but for use, they want between 300dpi to 600dpi depending upon whether or not it is used inside or on the cover.

Your photos are gripping. They remind me of the "discussions" I had as an undergrad taking photography classes. Everyone was doing this great, raw, gripping, photojournalism work while I was striving to be the next Ansel Adams (didn't happen, by the way!)

Whenever I see photos such as yours, I always wish I could document that - but I can't detach myself enough to do it.

Wow! Thanks so much for your compliments. I still have so far to go. I am not capturing enough emotion in my photos, but I do realize that, and am working to change that. Mostly, I just don't get to the situations in time for that. I really enjoy this type of work, however, but the competition is so intense. The flood and violence images were actually taken with a point-n-shoot, bsically, so they are not as good as I would have hoped. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to switch lenses on the camera, so I couldn't use my favorite 17-35 mm lense. That lense really increases the drama and impact of a situation. But, I am finally getting a somewhat pro camera, the D70. Yeah! Anyway, thanks again!!!

I love my portflio. I would love an online portfolio, but have not found a site to fill my needs, lol. My "real" portflio is a 11x14 portfolio i bought at texas art supply. Its like a part of me, aside from my camera. haha. Oh and for the record, I tend to use my fav. photos, and the best ones. But I still like to keep variety. I usually keep 18-25 photos. I feel like if there is too many, it won't keep peoples attention. But its always in my car, incase i just have to show someone.

My porfolios are bounded leather albums for the most part, either an entire wedding, indivduals shots, or a mixture of both (inclulding engagements, bridals, and headshots). I have around 6 different album companies I use with at least twelve albums with 30 pages or more in them (some up to 110 pages) ranging in size from 8.5x11" up to 16x20" when closed. The larger albums get real costly since there are a few full spread images which end up being 32x20" when opened. This way I can not only show off my photography but my postprocessing work and album companies all at the same time. Plus they look really really nice! I also have one each of Highschool Srs., Models, and Sports.
